To Stress or Not to Stress

with 2 comments

I feel blah … lol, I don’t know. I don’t think I feel either happy or sad. I have my Chem and Math midterms on Friday. I feel like I should be more worried because I haven’t done much studying but yeah …

Haha, this post is really vague, pointless and stupid. I think I’m just procrastinating more. I have to meet with my ASA group tomorrow to go over our presentation in discussion.

[Sigh] I don’t like presentations. I’m not good at public speaking; I know a lot of people aren’t either but it really stresses me out to talk in front of people. I don’t like being put in the spotlight and I don’t like having people stare at me. I don’t mind explaining something to a small group of people but when I have to stand up in front of the class, it really freaks me out.

Two years ago, in Media Academy, my group had to present our commercial, website and research on Republican candidate for the governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger. I memorized my part word for word without a sweat but when I had to say it front of the audience, my mind blanked out and I was struggling to get all the words out. My group members were staring at me (I think some of them were nervous for me) and I couldn’t focus. I really thought I was going to faint at the time.

Gosh, I miss Media Academy! One of my biggest topics to blog about on my Xanga was Media Academy. Haha, never thought I’d say this, but I miss LOGGING AND CAPTURING! I miss my teachers too, especially Ms. Thurston and Mr. Temple. I’ll probably never see them again. They’re too busy anyway.

I thought my life was finally turning around my Senior year of high school. I had something I was good at, something to look forward to. I was getting along with my friends and I got into Davis (my 1st choice). [Sigh] But I’m still as confused as ever! I don’t know what I’m going to do with my life.

I seriously feel that I have all the time in the world to sort things out. Like right now, I should be studying but I feel there’s enough time to blog. Lol, I can’t wait till Spring Break! I’m going to lie in bed and sort out all my thoughts.

“I have too long digressed, and therefore shall return to my subject.”

Oh yeah, I found out on Monday that my lab partner, Ray, dropped out of Chem. You do what you’ve got to do. I shouldn’t say I feel happy about him dropping, but it does make lab easier for me. It was frustrating for me to work with him, but I admit, he was really helpful with the last lab we did together.

Wahhhh, back to studying for Chem and Math. Most likely, just Chem tonight. I can’t wait till this week ends! But then I still have my ASA presentation to do on Tuesday. Life is sucky and depressing.

The Adventure at 2:30pm

with one comment

Yesterday, my friends and I went on an adventure!  Seth planned to go on this adventure the week after Chinese New Year but the trip was delayed because either too many people went home or the weather wasn’t good.

Everybody but Allison, Dalen and I knew where we were going.  And where did we go??!  Lol, we went to a park near the University Court.  It was fun and exciting.  I felt like a kid again.  I played on the swings and jungle gym.

My activities recently have been very nostalgic.  Beginning last week, I started searching up old music.  I listened to Craig David, A*Teens and S Club 7, lol.  And then at the beginning of this week, I started watching Princess Returning Pearl, a Chinese drama I watched when I was a kid.

Today, I finished watching the 1st season, but the 2nd season isn’t subbed.  Lol, I asked Anna to find it for me, but she’s not going to, :( .  I’m not even sure if they sell the drama with the 2nd season subbed.  I could watch the drama with Cantonese dub but I prefer the original.  Lol, I found the drama on YouTube with Vietnamese dub, funny stuff.  Anna gets it, unless she doesn’t, lol.

Speaking of my sister, I’ve confirmed something this weekend.

Jenlyz89 (11:19:27 PM): you there?
Lub Yuu Reginald (11:20:08 PM): hi
Jenlyz89 (11:20:33 PM): actually i want the samoas

Jenlyz89 (11:21:07 PM): you lied about giving

Lub Yuu Reginald (11:23:15 PM): dork
Lub Yuu Reginald (11:23:16 PM): yes
Jenlyz89 (11:23:43 PM): loll you know me so well
Lub Yuu Reginald (11:25:13 PM): haha dork

Like she said, “No one knows you as well as I do.”  It makes me really upset when people don’t follow through with the things they say they’re going to do.  It brings my hopes up and then I get disappointed when they don’t actually do what they say.  Then I say things I don’t mean.  People really shouldn’t take most the things I say, seriously.

And on the issue of disappointments, I’ve confirmed another thing.  My mom is a pet hater …

Lol, Anna showed me a cute dog over the webcam and told me that our dad had adopted it from the Humane Society for $150.  Haha, first thing I asked when I thought it was ours …

Me: Really?  Mommy wants it?
Anna: Yeah, she even held it!

I was shocked but then Anna revealed that as soon as our dad brought the puppy home, our mom made him sell the puppy to our cousin.  What a surprise!  Not really … got my hopes up.  My mom really is a pet hater.  Any pet we’ve EVER had she has always made us give it away (except the fish, but they don’t really count).

I Suck!

with one comment

Omg, I only had 1 class today and I didn’t do shit.  I spent the whole day watching a drama and reading manga!  I didn’t do anything over the weekend either!  I brought my Chem textbook and lab notebook and I didn’t read, study or do my post lab.

I realized I have a lot of work to do.  I have my Chem and Math midterm on the same day and my ASA presentation a couple of days after.

Darn Jenny, stop procrastinating!

Lol, I’m wasting time by blogging … and now I have to shower.

Oh yeah, I did laundry yesterday and I washed my comforter and my blanket in the same load.  Stupid ass idea!  When it was done washing, the blankets were soaked and soapy!  But I put it in the dryer anyway and guess what?  They didn’t dry completely, what a surprise.  I didn’t want to waste like $1.25 drying them again, so I took them out and hung them on my closet instead.

Blankets

Yep, there they are; they’re probably dry by now but I’m too lazy to fold them.  I blame Alan for sleeping on them.  I had to wash and dry 4 blankets and all my clothes in 3 loads of wash and 3 loads of dry!  Gosh, it was hell carrying all that laundry up and down the stairs and across the halls.

This is nonsense, 20 minutes after I said I would shower … yeah, I’m going to go shower for REALZ now!  And then study till Bwana decides to go to bed … HOPEFULLY I’ll study.

Did You Know [I Am] Special?

with one comment

So … Anna and I went home this weekend because our grandpa fell earlier this week.  He had a hip surgery on Thursday and now he’s doing well.

He lost a lot of blood during the surgery and needed 2 pints.  Anna checked the bag and we found out that his blood type was A+.  Finding out my grandpa’s blood type reminded me that BloodSource was suppose to mail me my blood type.

And when we got home, I found out that I’m O+!

According to this paper they mailed home, It is recommended for me to donate:

“Whole blood because [I'm] in great demand!  Although nearly 50 percent of the population has type O blood, the percentage of people who can receive [my] blood type far exceeds this number.  Individuals who are type O can only receive type O blood.  In addition, in an emergency situation, type O can be used for other blood types making [me] the ‘universal’ whole blood donor.”

Haha, I am a natural born BLOOD donor!

I Feel Unwell

with one comment

Around Saturday I got a sore throat.  A lot of my friends are currently sick, but I didn’t think much of it.  I thought it was sore because I had eaten a lot of tortilla chips, but it’s slowly getting worse.

Me: I’m not sure if I’m sick yet, though, because I only have a sore throat.
Allison and Brian: That’s how it started.

I think either Allison or Brian got me sick.  Allison doesn’t cover her mouth when she coughs and although Brian does, he’s been giving me high fives and yeah … ’nuff said.

I feel like I’m swallowing rocks, and I feel like gagging if I talk for too long.

I procrastinated a whole lot last night.  I made a gecko out of pony beads, lol, and it took longer than I thought it would.  I couldn’t find any string so I used plastic ribbon (used to tie balloons) instead and I had to fold the ribbon to make threading through the beads easier.  It looks really nice though and I really like the colors.

Gecko

I didn’t sleep last night because I was trying to finish my powerpoint on Girls in Early Fairy Tales for my Freshman seminar.  I felt excited when I found two themes (related to girls) emphasized in fairy tales –> the roles of women were subordinate to men in society and the importance of marriages for women in the Middle Ages.  And on the plus side, my Professor sent me an email commending me on my presentation skills.  Lol, she probably sent the same email to all the ones who had presented before me.  But I was happy that I didn’t choke because the girl who went before me had a lot of good information and I’m usually not good at public speaking.

I finished the powerpoint around 6:00am and took a shower and went to Chem lecture at 7:45am.  I wish I hadn’t gone because I only took one page of notes and wasn’t paying attention.  My time would have been better spent sleeping.

After my Freshman seminar ended at 10:50am, I rushed back to my dorm to sleep.  I set my alarm for 12:10pm so I would have time to go over the procedures for my lab at 1:10pm, but I turned off my alarm when it rang and reset it for 1:30pm.  Omg, idiot move!  I woke up at 1:15pm and rushed to lab.  I wasted time because I couldn’t find my cellphone and when I got downstairs and unlocked my bike, I realized I didn’t have my lab notebook or lab manual so I had to run back up and get it.

And, when I got there, my lab partner wasn’t there.  I didn’t really care; I worked with Anita and her lab partner instead.  We finished with time to spare, and I went to Math lecture.  And guess who was there?  My lab partner, Ray.  I still didn’t really care because 1. I’m not perfect, I was late to lab and 2. I got it (the experiment) finished.  It would’ve been more irritating to have worked with him anyway.  I don’t like leading other people, I rather just go with the flow and do what I’m told.

Then I biked back to the dorms to sleep.  Before my Math lecture though, I had asked my sister to buy me some non-drowsy medicine and cough drops.  At 5:00pm, I called her, but she was at her boyfriend’s place studying and that’s understandable but once she finished studying, she went to the ARC.  Omgosh, wth, it wouldn’t have made much of a difference to you if you just dropped off the medicine before you went to the ARC.  However it would be very helpful to me … gosh, it was annoying.

And when she came over to drop it off, I found out that she bought me liquid medicine … Omg, that’s stupid.  I haven’t drunk liquid medicine in such a long time.  It’s such a hassle, buying pills would’ve been more helpful and the medicine tastes gross.  Omgosh, I’ m a student in college, I think I can handle swallowing pills.  Don’t worry I won’t choke, you don’t have to buy me liquid medicine.

Cleaning Day: Behind the Scenes

with 4 comments

I started doing laundry today at 7:00pm, and after I put my clothes in the dryer, I changed my sheets and made my bed.  About 20 minutes before my laundry was to be done, I decided, “Hmm, I should vacuum the floor.”

I borrowed Megan’s vacuum, but it didn’t work so well (lol, I’m tempted to bring the vacuum cleaner from home) though there’s a big improvement (the floor) from how it looked before.  After I finished vacuuming, I dumped the trash from the vacuum’s trash container and saw that there was a lot of crap still in the the vacuum bag.  I’ve never emptied a vacuum bag before so I didn’t know how to remove all the dust and dirt, lol, so I stuck my hand up the bag and pulled out all the hair, lint, dust and dirt.  Lol, it was really gross.  Then when I was putting the trash container back onto the vacuum bag, I noticed that the container had directions on how to empty a vacuum bag.  and you’re suppose to remove the vacuum bag from it’s hinge and shake vigorously.

Lol, eww, I didn’t even have to stick my hand into that thing.  But everytime, I shook the bag, the dust would fly out and get on the carpet, so I had to re-vacuum the floor each time I shook the bag.  Lmao, I did that about 4 times and then got tired of it and stopped.

Once I finished vacuuming the floor, I wiped my desk and bookshelf and tossed all my work from last quarter into a cardboard box.  I also moved my bookshelf so that if my door happens to be open and people walk by, they’ll be able to see me now.  It also makes my desk look really big!

Then I folded my laundry and picked up the remaining trash from my floor and the dust bunnies stuck along the sides of the wall.

I went outside into the hall and showed Allison and Megan my room and lol, they were amazed and impressed!  Megan then told me that Alan had written something mean on her board, so she told me to write “Alan is smoking weed.  Go Away!” on his board and I had written “Alan is smoking” when suddenly, he walked out of his room.

Haha … I quickly crouched down on the floor next to Nick, who was reading.

Alan: Why does Jenny look so suspicious?

He turned around and saw his board, lol.

Alan: I can’t believe you would think of me like that.

I stayed in the hall awhile longer with Nick, Alan and Allison, talking about housing for next year and Alan told me that he had slept on my bed Saturday night.

Wth

Me: Omgosh, why would you do that?
Alan: I’ve never been on a loft and I just wanted to see what it was like.
Me: Why would you do that?  Were you clean?
Alan: Yeah, I just showered.

Blah, blah, I wasn’t that upset because I was still a bit excited about my clean room.

A couple of hours later, Bwana came into the room, so I told her …

Me: I heard you let Alan sleep on my bed?
Bwana: No, I didn’t, he climbed up there on his own.  I asked him if he should do that because it’s Jenny’s bed and even I don’t touch Jenny’s stuff, but he did it anyway.  Please don’t be mad at me.
Me: I’m not mad at you.  But what happened, why did he sleep on my bed?
Bwana: See, Alan knocked on the door and asked if he could stay because Kevin was talking too much.  I was watching comedy sketches and told him he could sit on my bed but he started climbing up to your bed and said he never went on a loft and wanted to see what it was like, and then I heard some noises and saw that he fell asleep.
Me: Oh …
Bwana:  Oh!  And he threw your lamb!
Me: What?
Bwana: He started throwing your lamb at me!
Me: What?!
Bwana: Yeah, I didn’t even know you had stuffed animals, and he told me, “Yeah, Jenny has hella stuffed animals.”

Omgosh, I was more annoyed that he had thrown my stuff around; Anna gave those sheep to me.  That focker!  Lol, but yeah, seriously, a loft in just like a bunk bed.  If you want to know what it’s like being on a loft, just climb up a stinkin’ bunk bed.  There’s not much of a difference.  And out of all the lofts on the floor, why mine?  Sure, if you sit on it, I wouldn’t mind, but Hey There Deliah, why did you have to sleep on it?!

Alan: Yeah, I didn’t get it wet.

Haha, that’s SO reassuring!

Bwana: I’m glad you changed your sheets.
Me: Yeah, I just wish I had known earlier so I could have washed my blankets, too.
Bwana: Hehe, well I’m sure he’s not diseased.

Sheep

Baaaaa, my sheep.

Bed

And my clean bed.

I’m less mad now since I’ve told a couple of people, and (now) blogged about it. It feels nice to get it out.

Yeah, my lab partner was actually quite helpful with our experiment today, but we still finished near last.  He kept asking me if I like him now, and it made me feel uncomfortable because I don’t like being asked that question.  Lol, if I like you, I’ll tell you straight up, don’t push me to say it when I don’t want to.

Haha, enough drama for one post, let’s move on …

We got back our Math midterm scores today.  Lol, the highest score was an 84 and the lowest was a 7.  And I think the median was 48 and the mean was 46.

A=70
B=60
C=40
D=30

I was really nervous, he passed out the tests by last name.

Professor: Okay, L through M.

DUN DUN DUN

Omg, I found my test and saw, 81/100!  I ran up the steps, smiling, and showed Seth.

Me: Omgosh!!
Seth: You got an 84.
Me: No, look!
Seth: Wow, you got an 81.
Me: Yeah, omgosh, is this my paper?!?!  (Lol, I flip back to the front page to make sure.)
Seth: Yeah, it’s yours.
